About TANT

The Tenants Association of the National Trust (TANT) originally started in Lacock, a picturesque village near Chippenham, by local residents of the National Trust.

Some 3 years later tenants of the Slindon estate, near Arundel in West Sussex formed their own Tenants Association, followed by Mottisfont in Hampshire and later, in 2001 they were joined by Holnicote, on the edge of Exmoor.

On October 2nd 2002, representatives of the four tenants associations met at the National Trust headquarters, Queen Anne’s Gate, London where David Riddle, National Trust Land Director was asked to be present.

TANT was formed as a steering group with the task of organising national representation of National Trust tenants in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Our Role

Sharing with the National Trust the recognition that it’s housing responsibility for Tenant-Custodians and communities is of equal importance to the preservation of the homes and businesses they occupy.
